Ramsey,

There is great divergence of opinion about how much risk we are facing around Asia. No one is sure what the ramifications will be either in Asia or the U.S., so there is a lot of worry being acted out in the markets. Since Americans tend to ignore much of the rest of the world as much as possible, I appreciate being able to come here to "the Cave of the Bear Clan" to see some of the concerns.

One possibility I've heard discussed is that further Asian weakness will increase the ability of American businesses to buy into Asia on the cheap much the same way Japan was able to buy a heavy investment position in the U.S. when the dollar was weak. It may be at very heavy cost to American workers, but it could provide some stimulus for the Asian economies while providing a boon to the companies able to capitalize on it.
