I would not get too excited about a gene therapy press release and its effect on share price - as people have noted we knew about the gene therapy at the CC. HOWEVER big splashes for research advances seem always to come when a paper is published, this happens with Nature or Lancet articles. ((To authors, the work is in the bag when they get acceptance - May in this case - but evidently authors are wary about shooting their mouths off until publication.)) Thus I guess Vivus, if they do plan a big event, would wait until the official publication date.

Presumably gene therapy for ED is not as exciting as curing cancer in rats. But it looks like ED is a good candidate for gene therapy which generally has promised a lot but not delivered too much yet for a variety of technical problems for other illnesses. But just to repeat, it could be that the Vivus work is a winner - the paper looks good.

Whatever criticisms we have of Vivus management, they appear to have latched on to the best group in the world in this area to do this work with.

Vlad, I can try to find out about the Journal, as with other periodicals the August issue might be out in September if they have a backlog of accepted articles to publish, or could be earlier, in June - depends.
