Kathy,

I work in the avionics industry on navigation and guidance computers for regional and corporate aircraft.

I've even worked with some of the GPS receiver software.

IMO, Y2K is a real problem, but has been hyped up way too much.

For instance some people are afraid that the Y2K problems will crash aircraft, because of a undetected GPS error. That is next to impossible. Even if the date code was incorrectly translated (say to 1980 instead of 1998), all kinds of detectable errors would show up since the actual satellites are not in the same place as they were in 1980. At worst the GPS equipment would be unusable. I don't know of a single aircraft that uses GPS as a single navigation sensor. There are some approaches that now use GPS, but things will still be fine without them. I'm not sure about the actual satellites - I'll leave that to the Department of Defense.

BTW - Even if there is a date coding problem it will be quite a simple fix compared to other errors that have show up over developement. I imagine the Y2K fix is more involved in areas with large databases (like banks, inventory, etc.).

I'm don't have an opinion if TAVA is a 'scam' or not (at least not like ZITL). The latest financing was not very favorable to the company. I'll say I'm neutral on TAVA. OTOH - Bill W. and CR both do their homework and I'd give them a lot of credibility. As I've said, next quarters earnings report will tell.
