This is nothing new. The Drug War has been an excuse to raid people's properties so that departments can take property under civil forfeiture laws. Innocent people have been shot and killed in the process. As far as the 2nd amendment, the existence of Emile and others like him and what might happend if they ever come to power is the best argument I can think of for the right to bear arms.
