Steve, What is your understanding of a breakeven point on the gas wells at Matagorda. One of my sources suggests it is around 20Million cu.ft per well per day and that this is most likely why the wells were sanded up. Although who's to say if the are completed properly they can produce 20+. Of course the above varies with drilling costs,but most likely they will be high due to the need for barge transportation and "boarding" etc. Interested in your opinion..TIA..DD
"Are you sure about those numbers? 3m is 3 thousand, and that's not much of a
production rate. Even 3 million scf (standard cubic feet) - if that's what you meant to
say - is not enough to justify completing a well for production, generally. A rule of
thumb would be about 20 million a day (shown as 20 MM scf - 1000 x 1000) of dry
gas in order to make a profit, depending on what the drilling costs were."
