Chinas transfer to a market economy may just be " being done right" You point out correctly the idea of keeping people employed.Russia did it wrong , the overnight change could not be assimilated.These are interesting political and social observations....but important when you think of selling to 1/3 the world population. Henry Ford said " we must build a car that our workers can afford" China may be saying " we must change our society so that all our people can afford"...if that means slow and somewhat tech lazy, they might just pull it off.I sure dont have the answers but the fall of communism in Russia sure hasn't produced an open economy .... perhaps CUBE (entertainment) will be the new opiate of the chinese people. (thats a joke)
