CNBC asks Netscape's Jim Barksdale today about the possibility of aquisitions. Jim responded that "we shoot at all turtles". Asked specifically about Novell, he replied "no comment". Bruce Francis pointed out Novell's public position that they wish to remain independant (yea right) and Jim Barksdale responded "He wished them all the luck" or something to that effect. Either ole Jim is tired of this question, or?? Although it has been made clear in the past that Netscape is not interested, I found today's comments interesting. I think a low ball offer was made by someone, the poison pill was filed and potential aquirers are chomping at the bit. Could Netscape be back in the picture?? sf
