Eric's response (5841) to your statement is right on the money.
Server applications are not the same as client (GUI-based)
applications. Something that a good portion of the press has yet
to understand.

I am reminded of the statement that a good NOS should be similar to
UnderWare (should not be seen...) (:-) (:-)

Having been in software development since 1969, one thing that I
have learned is software that is supposed do all things for all
people comes with a severe price:

1 - too complex (too many lines of code)

2 - inherently difficult to maintain (too many lines of code)

3 - poor performance (can't be optimized for a dedicated role)

Something that MSFT has yet to discover (in fact they BRAGGED about
the amount of resources required to produce Windows 95 in the Wall
Street Journal). Same applies to NT.
