Jeff,

I feel you've really, really missed the marketing strategies at work here.

It's obvious to me that AOL Canada has agreed to allow PINC to pay them to advertise on AOL. As the deal is "non-exclusive" it means that AOL will be happy to take in more money from anyone else who wishes to also advertise with them.

This is the pay now and reap rewards later ploy. Unfortunately, it is the company shareholders who (indirectly) pay AOL, and AOL who reaps the rewards later. Perhaps the PINC stock price might rise a penny or two on this questionable news, but... hey! It's not my money on the line here.

The sad thing is that the people who have been hyping this thing are about to dump all their cheap shares on all the poor saps who have put their faith in them up until this point.

Nothing new here. It's all pump 'n dump, taken directly from the textbook.

Wait a minute! I just realized you're NOT long on AOL. You're just short (of faith) in PINC. Oops. My error. I thought you had just bought one of those basket funds of Internut stocks. Boy, is my face red!
