The independent council statute needs to be amended, not thrown away. There is a real issue of an out of control prosecutor, and a majority of Americans and even people in the American Bar Association agree with this concern and assessment. Clinton was assured that Republican's would never abuse the statute in exactly the way they have at the time it was up for re-authorization. Even after all of this, it still should be amended and kept rather than thrown away. Blaming the jaywalker for the circus of the procecution of the crime of jaywalking is not the right place to focus. The lack of balance and appropriateness is the issue and the majority of American have made this political judgement. In the end, Clinton will prevail and all of this will just be for what? Good for the country? Clinton has done a great job as President in all the areas I care about.
