Mike,<<Do you happen to know if CHNL has any competitors that sell exclusively to only cable companies and all the flavors of LECs?>> One enclosure maker that fits that description is Rel-tec (Lorain, OH). They make lots of products that compete side by side with Channell, but Rel-tec uses metal products instead of molded plastics for enclosures. In the Cable and Telco businesses, you find one area that prefers metallic products, and others that prefer molded plastics. Varies a lot. CHNL capital intensive? Hmm, they buy mega tons of raw polyethylene pellets, but I don't know what else. When I visited their factory in Temecula, CA 3 years ago they had just added on a wing. Maybe they grew again.

Raychem is not a competitor with CHNL on pedestal enclosures for below ground plant, but they make the copper drop wire connector blocks used in many pedestal enclosures, maybe even in CHNL's. Raychem is a materials specialty company, and the global king of heat shrink products for cable, telco and power network applications, among many other things. I have seen their stuff hanging along pole leads from rural Bolivia to downtown Beijing. They also make lots of other weather resistant products with some special gooey gel, like RJ-11 indoor phone jacks and Phone Network Interfaces that mount on the side of the house. Their fiber splice cases are pretty universal also.
