Mr. Cooks figures were always accurate. From outward appearances, tssw was on track for good earnings. What David, myself, and others didnt see earlier but probably do know is that tssw was never really cut out for the retail stores. They have excellent products but lack the marketing $$$$ to consistently push them quarter after quarter.
Tssw knows this better than you and I and have changed direction.
What they spelled out in the release was obvious several months back.
Touchstone has the technology to carve out a niche in the corporate/commercial arena and with the contacts brought by award and ceridian will have many opportunities they are capable of exploiting. Ceridian is only the beginning of the corporate deals that will come. I never felt comfortable with tssw relying on the retail shelves for bread on the table. But I do feel comfortable with tssw focusing on the commercial side of things as buisness is more interested in an excellent product and results rather than flashy names, advertising, boxes, ect. . This move is way overdue and i suspect the new ceo (maybe Pierre ? from award) will steer tssw toward a more lucrative scenario.
Everybody, both here and on the yahoo boards, loves to blame Dave for tssw's shortcomings. He'll probably be cited as one of the primary reasons, along with the late release of windows 98, for touchsones lagging sales and those of the utility sector as a whole. Damn Dave, how do you bear such great responsibility!!! I cant believe I paid $120 bucks to listen to people cast blame on non-employees for a company's problems.
