Micro Center this month beat down the lowest rung of the sub-$1,000 category by introducing a $399 system.

Micro Center's PowerSpec 1810 system is based on a 180-MHz Cyrix Media GX MMX processor, and standard features include 22 megabytes of RAM, a 1.6-gigabyte hard drive, a 24X CD-ROM drive, a 33.6-kilobit-per-second modem, speakers, and Windows 98.

I wonder how much Microsoft is getting for its Windows 98 license on this PC. It can't be much. It's certainly ironic that TLC will probably earn more than Microsoft on such a PC.
