I just bought 500 shares, and it's my own fault I bought them in a very careless way, that might be of some interest to anyone thinking that the Nasdaq is watching how the market makers do their business.
The stock was just sitting there, 7,900 shares sold, bid 29.50 ask 29.625 and (I admit sometimes I do this with a relatively small order) I put in a market, not limit, order through the Island (via Datek). Sure, I got 100 shares at 29 5/8-- then, a minute later, 200 at 11/16, and a minute after that 200 at 7/8! The bastards didn't even have the decency to sell me those last 200 at 29 3/4, which would have been a more gentlemanly way to screw me. Really, that last extra eighth was greedy and uncalled for.
Anyway, it's only $43 in real money, but my pride is wounded. I may go out for some dim sim, as it's called here in Australia-- some dim sim as an appetizer to a nice bowl of bimbimbang. |
