Let me point out a couple of problems in your post.
If Mork did in fact place $600 in his account this could be used tp offset any short position that may or may nort be under water. The position would still be open and thus not "covered".

I think it is much more accurate to say that the reason that the financials haven't been audited yet is that the auditors know they currently have no chance to be paid.
Thee may be more but I haven't had time to really look it over.
