- OT - My worthless opinion is to play contrarian. When brokerage analysts say things look rosy the market turns south. When they turn bearish, that is generally interpreted as a bullish indicator. Elaine Garzarelli (independent) was on NBR last nite and spelled it out: very little to no inflation, if things in Russia and Japan get worse that will force the Fed to reduce interest rates, corporate earnings are sliding a little (this is perceived to relieve inflationary pressures), and a few other positive factors I dont recall offhand. I think domestic pressures are minimal and outside factors are ALWAYS going to present risk. Today Russia and Japan, tomorrow latin america, next day Europe, next day who knows. The point is, brokerage analysts can always point to a factor to keep the market moving. They make money either way so the one thing they hate is stagnation. So if you buy into their scare tactics, so be it. After all it is your money they are turning into their commissions.

Buy on the rumor...

So that is my 1 1/2 cents worth.
