if you are seriously considering the purchase of a house how can you have your downpayment tied up in the stock market? you seem like you are a nice person but if i were you i would reconder this strategy. i also own sunw and lsi as 65% of my portfolio, by the way, and believe they are both destined for a positive future. but we are in diffeent scenarios. i am a senior at brown university who will be graduating in may. the money i have invested (a pretty substantial figure) comes from my night job as a bartender and my summer jobs at places including Gladstone's, Barney's and Dean Witter. i have no dependents other than myself and am young with a long time frame for investing. you seem to be two steps above me and while you probably enjoy a nice salary, still have a wife and possibly kids- i am guessing you are in your early thirties. if you need to provide a new house you should not gamble it all in stocks- especially with market so high. your downpayment should be relatively secured unless you are not that serious about purchasing a home. i hope you do well but don't want to see you get burned. good luck
