You're right, $1,000 is not an attractive price point, but we don't
know that's the price they're shooting for. I would think something
around $600 to $700, would move these systems. Let's take a guess at
how much it costs to build:

CPU and MB $170
16MB ram 65
RAMDAC,BIOS,etc. 20
Hardrive 150
Box and Monitor 180
Total $585

Let's assume 22% margins: Selling price $713

These are my guesses. Do you think I'm high or low?

Anyway, I still think GX86 licensing is not a great idea, because I
don't think the market for lower performance computers is that large.
I recall you mentioning possible third world demand for such a
product. $700 dollars is still out of the reach of such markets,
don't you think?
