Slanderous? I doubt it. Please observe however, that cathleen has finally admitted a strong connection with and financial stake in the site she has been hyping all over SI. I remind cathleen that SIs Terms Of Use prohibits use of SI for junk mail. I have read ten of cathleens posts and, as noted previously, seven were bald naked plugs (as in junk mail) for cathleens site.
I agree with cathleen that this board is not the place for any mention of her web site. I suggest she pay GONET an advertising fee. Here are some facts: yesterday I checked the link cathleen posted, feeling a responsibility to do so as the originator of this thread. I found I had to register to see the content. So I did. Mistake on my part. Although I have been spam free for months and have never received spam for financial products, within hours of "registering" on the hype site I received financial product spam. Can I prove a connection? Absolutely not. It could have been the odd timing of coincidence. But the cause and apparent effect do subscribe to a pattern I have seen before. At any rate, given that I had seen no posts of value on the site - nothing like the frequently knowledgeable and well-thought-out posts found all over SI - I rushed to get un-registered from the hype site before further spammers picked me up. Guess who I got replies from? A certain Cathleen Graham, claiming the title of President, Net Relations Inc. apparently the operator and possibly the owner of the hype site.
Oh, uh, cathleen? While I admire the chutzpah, the official method of obfuscation is a) admit nothing, b) deny everything, and c) make counter charges. By bragging on your site AOL hits and posting the 800 number, you have admitted your partisanship. You will find your denials and counter-charges of limited value after failing on a).
I welcome anything anybody has to post about Amoco/BP ... except self-promoting links designed to drive up hit rates and enrich oneself. Apologies to AN/BP fans for this absurd interlude. Good luck to cathleen in promoting her business venture ELSEWHERE! As someone striving to sell advertising, I would hope she would be willing to pay for it herself. |
