Rich, I don't know about true swappability, but I plan to check the USB peripheral availability tonight at ComputerWare's midnight iMac sale.

Soup, thanks for the update. Tell us, did TekServe offer some kind of iMac special in order to get a good shipment from Apple? Some sites say that many small resellers aren't getting any/many unless they had some kind of event or special deal. Any truth to this?

iMac availability seems better than I thought, with most shops claiming to have 30-60 boxes. The mail order front seems more backed up, though some major catalog resellers are claiming that they will be getting DAILY shipments from Apple. This ties in very well with the Macintouch 8000 iMacs a day report. CompUSA might also have empty shelves this weekend as they really pushed the preorders too.

A ComputerWare salesman (10-store NorCal Mac chain) said that he's heard conflicting reports about whether they are going to have plenty for the midnight launch or whether they will be nowhere close.

Glad to just get demo machines in the stores after three months of buzz.

Sold most of my AAPL today--other bargains are compelling and AAPL's had a run. Also, the whole market is looking like it has further downside, though I only expect another 200 down on the Dow, so we're close to the bottom, IMO.

Marc
