And so often luck is all it is! The only piece of advice I've found to be consistent is the old, be a bull or a bear but not a pig, and variations thereof. Lots of people make fun of those who take their 1/4's and 1/2's and move on, but slow and steady wins the race.

Even those complaining that they bought at 5 and change, had they sold at 7ish, would have made money, myself included. I made some money on an earlier rise, but not enough to cover selling now. Quick in-and-out, or real long term investing, little in-between.
