Re: CPQ service

CompUsa offers $159 3- year on site service plan for CPQ
and probably everyone else too. However, be sure to read the fine print on the service contract. DELL includes a great service plan in their purchase price. With CPQ you have to pay separately for the plan.

Radioshack is offering 3 and 5 year service plans for $129 and $250. You drop your computer off at their store and then pick it up 7 to 9 days later. These plans are for their CPQ Presarios.

I asked the Radioshack salesman for the total cost of the system and it took more than 10 minutes for him to come up with the total price.
Radioshack is including Correl software as a distinguishing feature over the regular CPQ machines. This is a $10 value! Whoopee.

Lot of coupons and rebate programs for internet usuage. CPQ is still selling its monitors separately. The Radioshack salesman said that
once you order the machines that you get delivery from the warehouse in 7-9 days. The warehouse is in Texas. It was impossible to tell how you configure one of these machines for a BTO model.

Summary: CPQ has a long way to go to begin to even approach DELL's BTO model.

DELL's prices for comparable systems with service and
similar features is about 8-15% lower than CPQ.
