Angela,

Hello! I see you just joined SI recently and this is your first post. Where are you from? And how come you got onto CDMA?

There are lots of companies licensed to produced IS-95 handsets, but current production is only by Qualcomm Personal Electronics [a Qualcomm/Sony San Diego based joint venture] and Oki from Japan. But Motorola either have them available or should soon. Lots of others will no doubt begin selling in 1997. Things are going so fast now with so many companies getting on the bandwagon that it's hard to keep up wtih who's doing what.

The USA now has available CDMA, TDMA, GSM, AMPS and maybe some others too. But the future belongs to CDMA and probably some GSM too for a while. Analog will die off pretty quickly as the benefits of PCS become obvious to subscribers.

We need Tero Tora Tora [a sometime participant here to tell us about the Nokia 2110 - he is from Finland. I bet he's cold and dark now way up there!!]. Nokia are doing pretty well in cellphones. What makes you ask about the Nokia 2110? I guess from what you say, the Nokia 2110 is an analog handset and maybe a pretty good one.

Maurice
