An interesting article in the January issue of Smart Money - "The six best investments for 1997" states "...This year, as always, we began our search for the best investment ideas with a big assist from Elaine Garzarelli, the well regarded sector analyst who runs Garzarelli Capital. She looks at the market using a complex blend of 14 different measures - things like industrial production, interest rates and money supply..."

Further in, it states:

"...Finally, a couple of important caveats. First Elaine Garzarelli herself is fairly bearish for '97. She's predicting corporate earnings will fall by 8 percent, which she thinks could result in a 15 to 25 percent pullback in the market. That's not an outlook we share. Our view is that the soft economic landing of 1995-96 ought to continue..."

So they rely on EG for sector analysis but not her predictions as to market direction.

Just thought it interesting.

Gil
