I've been told Alacatel has asked Amati for help. What is the source of your information? It would be helpful if we compared notes to see whose is more current. I hope mine is, but if yours, then I'd like to know. Don't want to be an ostrich.

As for teaming with a North American telco, I'm hoping GTE is the first, however, Amati has made it clear North America is not its target market. (Read page 26 of annual report.) If they fail in their target markets, your predictions may prove true. There are no guarantees.

Incidentally, their partnership with NEC is far from "wishy-washy." I suggest you phone the company and ask for Tac Berry (408-879-2000)and have him explain it further.
