Thats a great arguement, accept ETSI has admitted they need Q's patents. Furthermore LU,NOKIA have paid for right to use technology. Why would they pay for somthing they can develop so easily. Why do you think they can develop it. Motorolla is still trying. The fact is Qcom has over 400 patents for CDMA. Thats not 1 or 2 thats 450! Furthermore a company could build a CDMA system by stealing specs and creating new
ways around Qcom's patents but it would take to long. Besides why would someone spend BILLIONS to do so when they could simply buy a liscence. WCDMA is a negotiating ploy, thats it. Erickson does not have a UNIQUE CDMA system. Time will tell the truth, however the war is over and CDMA has won. Nokia will benifit from that victory, erickson however might go the way of MOTanic. Qualcom will not be circumvented, the US government has already made that clear to it European subourdinates. This is why ETSI sat down this week with Q. There will be a negotiated setelment. By the way it would be cheaper to simply buy Qcom then to try to re-invent CDMA. As a shareholder thats fine with me!
