I certainly hope not. I think he is one of the most overrated of all the rubber CEOs. (ie.. he bounces around from co to co). If you don't believe me, look at Sunbeam. Their stock has rebounded nicely since they got rid of Dunlap and got someone with real vision at the helm. All Al knows how to do is just slash payroll. With some companies that is all it takes and he looks like a savior. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Compaq. Bringing an outsider in now would be a huge blunder IMHO. EP may be presumptuous (remember the Porshe) but CPQ can't afford to change at such a critical time for PC industry. I know this is the DELL thread but I hate to see CPQ or DELL go down.
