I was not aware of this. Can you refer me to a reference?

If what you said above is true, then you may have a point here.
Of course, this assumes a sense of fair play on the part of
Alcatel (unless there is already some sort of written legally
binding agreement).

Not really. I believe most of the North American telcos
are looking at ADSL on their copper. Very little talk of
VDSL in the North American market. Perhaps wishy-washy
is a poor choice of words, but within the context of my post,
I was making the point that Amati needs a solid partner
who can help sell their ADSL products to the North American
telcos.

Also, as far as I know, Amati does not have a VDSL product
yet.
