I'm not following wrestling too carefully right now but from all accounts, Vince is the second most "over" person in the federation (second only to Steve Austin). He has more heel heat than any of his wrestlers. It's a very tricky position -- Eric Bischoff abused the same thing and has suffered for it. From what little I have seen, he is being extremely effective, because he is trading on his "real" persona, particularly after the Bret Hart fiasco.

BTW, I saw the Belzer/Hogan incident live on Lifetime and Hogan didn't piledrive him -- it was a front facelock, of all things. The so-called smart fans think of the front facelock as a resthold but it shows the dangers of even mundane holds.

I wonder if the WWF were a stock, if this would be the time to short it. I'm not aware of the financial aspects of their purchase of the Debbie Reynolds casino, but if they are really buying the hotel/casino and not just licensing their name on a royalty basis, I wonder.

"Waiter, there's a steroid in my soup."
