Really? If they stole nothing, there will be no
case. They have to settle because they stole the
key technological elements of Alpha design.
The fact of settlement is the proof.

<DEC did this because of Intel's strong countersuit.
Everybody knows this.> Knows what? Their first
silly allegation about non-returned technical
specsheets? Treat to cut chip supply? And
only much later some smart-ass at Intel decided
to sue frivolously on some patents?

For your education, DEC had spies at Intel
who discovered direct usage of DEC materials,
or something like that, totally undeniable.
That is why they file the suit literally overnight.
Otherwise Intel, with their bank accounts
(at that time about $10B) could carry the lawsuit
for long-long time without much problems...
