>>4) I went into a office supply store and noticed that CPQ is putting a internet key on keyboards that launches the web and goes to AltaVista. Good move. Now what are we going to do with AltaVista?

There are four internet keys on all new Compaq Presarios. The main one leads to a special Yahoo/Compaq page. The second is the AltaVista page. The third is a special secure Compaq shopping page with links to Amazon, Flowers, etc... And the fourth button is the e-mail.

In terms of AltaVista: Compaq needs to make some serious updates fast. I read message boards and chat rooms will be coming soon. Also, some personalization would be good (i.e. "push" technology). Alta Vista has added new stuff the past month or so. The Career section is relatively new. So are the Finance, Map, ABCNEWS, CARDS, and DISCOVERY sections. I'm still waiting for a weather, sports, and lotto section. Nevertheless, I'm sure Compaq knows it need to upgrade. Buying the www.altavista.com address shows that Compaq is serious about AV.
