I have read lots of messages talking of "Stock Genie's" lousy success at picking longs, but really hadn't paid much attention to it, even though I had shorted some of their picks after the runup (thanks Barbara Payne for pointing out OCOM!)

Decided to look a little closer at Stock Genie. Remarkable! Every pick of the month popped up, but is now below the price that it was selling for when they recommended. (So I guess theoretically you could use them for very short term long picks, but only if you got in before the runup.) It would seem to be a pretty good advance notice of solid short candidate. A couple of their picks would not have been marginable even after their runups, but we can always wait for the over $5 stocks.

Here is the page where Stock Genie lists their monthly picks this year:

stockgenie.com

OCOM is still listed for their current monthly profile.

Here is a Yahoo! detailed stock quote, showing current prices.

Everyone well below the price that SG was so proud that it ran up to, and also below the initial price that SG lists.

Think I'm going to have to bookmark Stock Genie and sign up for any free email service they might have. This looks like a tool that all short sellers need to check.
