On the contrary...

Jorge:

Allow me to end the discussion with this thought. Though your argument has some merit to it I am afraid you are only looking at the immediate and the apparent while ignoring the prospects, you might be looking at the glass as being half empty and I on the other hand view the glass as being half full. Remember the report began by saying and I quote:

"August 11, 1998-As more businesses and homes in Europe become equipped with Internet access, the European Internet market will grow from 13.3 million computers connected to the Internet in 1997, to 69 million computers connected to the Internet in 2002, according to Dataquest, a unit of Gartner Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: GART). The market is projected to grow 60 percent in 1998, with 21.2 million Internet seats...

My point is only this Dell is a direct marketer who is aspiring to do 50% of all their sales via the internet by 2000 and in order for them to achieve this end the first requirement is that people and businesses have internet connections and whether it is through a 'cheap' PC or not shouldn't be an issue.
