Joe, I've been with Brown for years. They do advertise a minimum opening balance, but I know from experience that I've been allowed to drop below that without problem. For option trading they will have you complete a simple questionnaire and call you to be sure you know the risks. Based on that and the kind of trades you want to do (purchases, writes, spreads, indexes, etc.) and your worth, they assign your account a trading level. After that it's home free. Actually easier then I may be making it sound.
