Well Rick,

either the Attorney General or the President can terminate his involvement immediately. Nixon fired Siroca; Clinton can fire Starr. The question then becomes: why doesn't he?

Sure it can be done. But the act of firing Reno/Starr would have the affect of drawing even more attention to this disastrous matter. The Clintons just want it to go away, it has nothing to do with anything REALLY important, and its not worth firing someone over. I also just want it to go away. And I certainly dont want to elevate this matter to Watergate status by firing the prosecutor.

BTW there are many things that can be done, and should be done in politics. The most obvious thing I can think of offhand is the restructuring of entitlements. Why cant we do that? Its simple enough, and logical. But the political climate doesnt allow it. Very frustrating to me.
