Jim S,
I have no idea what to think about Monica's mom. I dont think much of the woman myself. It could be that Ms Lewis is conspiring to write a book - I wouldnt doubt it, based on her feeble appearances thus far and her complete ineptitude at supporting her own daughter. (Monica's dad appears to be a good parent from what I can see). With regards to why MONICA needed complete immunity - my suspicions are: 1) She could get it, 2) She (her lawyers) saw Starr go from a Whitewater investigation to an adulterous affair investigation under the same umbrella charter - with no cohesion between these events other than the somewhat illegal wiretaps provided by Linda Tripp. This scares Lewinsky into thinking that Starr could potentially bring up ANYTHING from her past, how she got her internship (before she knew Clinton, but these WH internships are usually obtained via family connections etc), her personal life etc and somehow connect it to this ludicrous investigation. SO the only way out for her is to request complete transactional immunity - therefore limiting Starr and his octopus approach to the legal process. Thats why I think Monica wanted transactional immunity.
