>>comments on the recent price slide?<<

I agree with TheBeach that the general economy is drooping. Since the possible Visteon spin-off was one or two years away, and the company never even admitted it in the first place, I doubt any of the decline was due to that. But what do I know?

If I had to guess why the drop, I'd say #1. general market, #2. the poor auto sales report for month of July, and #3. the thing that worries me the most: Rumors that BHP, a huge Australian conglomerate, is trying to woo Australian Jac Nassar to run their company. I have read this three times over the last 4-6 weeks. The last article I read about this mentioned that Jac was unsure of his ascension to the top spot at Ford. A Ford family member was mentioned as a possible contender to replace Trotman. The article also alluded to the possibility that Jac, a shrewd bargainer, perhaps was using this lever to gain assurance of his ascendancy. I think Wall Street respects Jac and would punish Ford's stock price if he left.

Just my opinion.
