"It appears to answer the question for all those who begin with the faith, then search for justification....Sadly, I suppose, I possess neither."

In my own personal life and in many others, I have observed that some moral failing seems to conqueor us and destroy our "virgin" faith.
Before the reality of a truly crucified life and germination of an authenitc newness can possess us, some sin seems to conqueor us. From this fallen position, we begin to develop a philosophy of life and a theology to go along with our moral failing. This happened to me between the age of say 16 to 22. I had heard and consented to many of the teachings of Christianity but had never appropriated the reality of the faith. When moral failing arrived, our began to assume that the moral ideals and high calling of conscience could not be attained through Christianity. I began to search many other avenues and found no consolation. It was not until my late twenties that the reality of Christ begin to re-emerge and lead me to a crucified life.
I found that we must truly die to self and then be raised in the newness of life. We must fully appropriate the death and crucifixion of Christ in our own bodies before the life of God can fully take hold. When I found this reality, I then knew that the moral idealism that I once sought in my youth was real and the desire of my conscience began to materialize.
