re:You guys are playing with fire... IMO, the folks playing with fire are those who have refused to reduce exposure to equities. Lately, I've heard many investors say, "Remain calm, stay unemotional and don't sell..." Such a posture is everything but 'unemotional,' flatters the speaker and admits greed. Those investors which are fully leveraged (or, have little reserves) cannot possibly benefit from downturns, and are exposed to the greatest risk. Despite the popular belief that 'buy-and-hold' is the best investment strategy, when people lose wealth their behavior and lifestyle is modified: the consistency of buy-and-hold mutates into a more cautious approach -- defying the earlier construct. My intent isn't to alienate people, rather to assist in a less painful educational process.
