Perhaps we interpret things differently, but my 1996 Annual
Report says (under International Business on page 26):
"The Company expects that sales outside the United States will
represent a significant portion of its future sales, especially
of the Company's ADSL products."

Microsoft gets a 'significant portion' of its sales outside
the United States as well, but it certainly does not mean that
the US is not their major target market.

Perhaps you are implying that Amati can survive even without
the US market. And perhaps you're right, since Amati's
market cap is currently small enough to benefit significantly
from even a small share of the ADSL market. But I think their
chances for success will be greatly enhanced if they can
get a piece of the North American market (where the ADSL 'action'
is ... where 'action' = telco money).
