Ron: Sounds right.

Back to that great unwashed of about 73% that don't have home based PC's-- but do have an average of 2 TV's. I think that the first major use of the TV as the entree into the home will be an extention of access of what most want now-- ie entertainment and then shopping-- then newspapers ( Hollinger connection )-- then telephony-- then travel etc. So unless-- I can't see the future well-- and I cant-- IMO, the telephone issue ( most are happy with the good old Ma Bell clunker) will be down the road a bit-- but not too far. That said, I am reminded of the French Mini-tel system in France of a decade ago-- put in most French homes so that the screen hook up directly to the phone was a mechanism to say-- book a restaurant once the # flashed up on the screen etc. Maybe with a good directional two way TV top transciever you could make us couch patate frites very productive on day to day issues ( wonder if MacDonalds will require reservations in the future.

The first issue will be that cheap ( relatively) TV top box hardware and then will come how the couch french fries interact to input to that box-- still a big thing to be worked out. I , however, like most of us I am still trying to cast my aging mind( 55 ) ahead a few years to a decade to figure out where we are all going-- ie how to position to generate wealth via the market.

As a Chanuck bevearland guy, one issue I keep hanging on is that when Conrad Black of Hollinger fame invests( newspaper and magazine expat CDN mogul-- ie he loves us but loves to hate us)--- then usually something is up!
