Then I think there must be something to the metaphor about not seeing the forest because the trees are in the way. But I definitely do not have your credentials or level of experience with Russia so please do post more.

One thing I will mention. While my experience with Russia was fleeting I nevertheless was struck by a sense of an indomitable spirit among many that I met. I also want to underscore that I think this is a very critical time for Russia's people. I would be pleased for a chance to read your thoughts on that subject. Also would like to know if you feel that the U.S. should take a lead banking role in support of a recovery there. By the way... I find nothing comical about N. Korea or Russia. My reference was to what I felt was your description which almost seemed a caricature of Russia drawn from the 60s.
