I guess what you're saying is that Internet Explorer is so good that Microsoft has to just start giving it away; even to commercial customers.

I preferred Netscape early on even as MSFT was giving IE away. After IE improved somewhat I switched since I didn't want to pay Netscape's steep ticket and I wanted to be legal instead of just "evaluating" it for years. Since then IE has improved immensely and I'd choose it over Netscape.

MSFT never charged for IE if I remember correctly. That's completely different than deciding to give away a revenue-producing product because no one wants to pay for it.

People on this thread that make comments like that are just clueless. It's unreal.

Well, Mr. Cluefull, why don't you tell us why Sun's giving away their OS? Is it selling so well that they got tired of counting the money?
