Thank you for your response.

<<Are your possessions and achievements so vital to your being that you are concerned for them even after your death?>>

No, I do my best to hold everything I own lightly because things change overnight and I can't boast about tomorrow.
What I was trying to imply is that regardless of what we have or do we no longer control what will happen with them after we die.
Solomon referred to it as vanity of vanities.
For some the meaning of life coincides with the bumper sticker philosophy of "he who has the most toys when he dies wins."

Am I so important to humanity that I should desire immortality?
No. I am one of billions.
Do I desire immortality for myself?
Yes. I do not see this as being egotistical. What would make it so?
Is it preferred to die and slip off into non existence or merely become a different part of the food chain?

For myself I would find it a sad thing to think that lifes meaning ends with death. No more love. No more memory. Nothing?

Yes, my Master does say that the kingdom of God is within me. In the form of the Holy Spirit when one turns to Christ for salvation. He didn't say turn to yourself but to Him.

John
