Dear DCF :

Luke Chap 7. re. Let us just suppose the same way Simon supposed ; that this woman was personally known by Simon. Talk about sweating bullets. All of a sudden a woman he secretively met with on prior occasions is now under his own roof.

Isn't it just like God to bring them back together at the most opportune time for Christ. Not by accident but by design. What gives me the clue of this is in vs.37 when it says "when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house", it is almost as if they knew each other too well, but with so much lack of respect for each other as to not call one another by name. Neither Simon to her nor her to Simon.

But this being the case there are some important spiritual lessons in this story.

1. Is the womans many sins an excuse to let sin have it's way knowing that they will be forgiven by a loving savior. NOT.

2. Is the need to be forgiven the only few times that Simon sinned an excuse not to seek the restoration that only Christ can provide. NOT.

3. Why is it that Simon did not demonstrate his love for Christ. ANS. There was none there to demonstrate.

4. What was Simons's biggest mistake. IMO. By judging the woman. Considering himself in less need of a savior than the woman. Judge and you shall be judged.

5. Where does the love of Christ, in us, ORIGINATE. ANS. In the faith that we place in him to forgive sin. It is only by accepting the forgiveness that Christ offers us that we can ever allow CHRIST TO FULLY OPERATE IN OUR LIVES.

6. In the final analysis whose sins were greater the woman or Simon. ANS. Simon. Because it was he who fails to recognize who it is that is under his roof. The Almighty God , the Prince of Peace, The Great I AM.

God Bless You..gregor
