I voted for Clinton even though I am a strong economic conservative and think his personal economic agenda is poison for this country for two reasons. 1) Theoretically speaking, I am a strong believer in the separation of church from state- something the Republican Party has not come to grips with as being religiously tolerant. I'm not defining religious tolerance here as a grudging acceptance of ( or putting up with ) someone else's religious beliefs that run counter to your own. Rather, I'm defining religious tolerance as emanating from a humble realization that we don't know which religion is right and therefore should respect them all and not give precedence to one over another when it comes to Gov't policy. 2) Practically speaking, with a Republican Congress intact to check the President's socialistic economic agenda, I felt this country could survive Clinton- and it has!
