I would have to believe that Southwest and Delta compete on more then only 3% of their routes. I know down here in Florida, almost every airport that Southwest flies into, either Delta flies there or their Delta Express flies there. I know in Nashville it is the same way. So they would have to compete on more then 3% of their routes in the South. I thought that was the whole reason that Delta started their Express was to compete against Southwest. I know that you said it was to get their salaries down but I would have to think that it was more a product of them wanting to compete then to get salaries. Just my two cents on that point.

On the subject of the Hub system. I know that I personally height flying into Atlanta everytime I want to fly somewhere on Delta. Last time, I went up to Tennesse, I had to fly up to Atlanta then wait an hour and then go. This time I am flying Southwest and we are going directly there. It is a great thing that this point to point system was invented because I would much rather do that then the other one.
