I don't want anyone wasting their time on this. The #1 rare record is

At Bats/Strike Out...it is held by Mike McGeary and it is 276. That is 276 AB per strikeout. He set it in 1876. Since 1950, the best was done by Dale Mitchell in 1952, 56.8 AB per strikeout. That is only 20.6 % as good.

The 2nd one, which is what I thought was 1st, is a far more well known statistic. It is something that doesn't happen as much today because of the trend toward specialization.
