I admit my patent experience is not vast. However Greg Powers has gone on record as saying that he has had Patent attourneys look it over, and they are confident in Qcom. I dont personally know Greg Powers, but people who I Know do and tell me hes quite straight. Furthermore it would seem rather stupid for Qcom to take such a stuborn stance unless they were quite sure of their position. They could easily now settle and do quite well. Yet they hold out because they believe that they have a better legal situation. Again this is me being a pragmatist. I also dont care either way. I just care that CDMA goes forward. This is all irrealavent. Qcom had put in effect their pattents in CDMA, if im correct that initself validates them! Also 66 companies have paid for rights. Why would they do that if patents were transparent and easily revokable? The bottom line is "do you think Qcom will disapear if CDMA explodes whatever the 3G CDMA format is?" I think the answer is no and Q will continue to prosper. Even if no agreament is made Q still is in good position whille they build out S.America, Russia(if its still there)Korea, Japan,USA,Australia,India etc and eventially like Nokia will develop a CDMA/GSM phone. Qcom could circumvent 3G altogether by using G* with CDMA to cover areas not covered by CDMA. GSMites would have to rely on iridium a vastly more costly more troubled system
