Sorry for the confusion irby. Realtick may not but, there are execution systems that will let you sell what you don't own i.e. selecting sell as opposed to short. On a number of emotional occasions I sold when I thought I bought.

I'm just trying to find a strategy to quickly reverse a position that's in harmony with my psyche. It's difficult for me to re-enter a trade after a 1/4 point flesh wound.

So, laboring under the assumption that it could happen. I'd be interested in yours or others comments as to whether there are any violations to buy 500 shrs then sell 1000 shrs to effect a reversal?

I don't think you can be long and short the same shares in a margin account.

Thanks,

Dominick
